We are part of Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, Columbia Initiative in Systems Biology, Motor Neuron Center, and Columbia Stem Cell Initiative at Columbia University Medical Center.
With a mixed dry and wet lab setup focusing on RNA biology in the mammalian nervous system, we have openings of both computational and experimental Postdocs and graduate students, and a technician for highly motivated individuals with relevant backgrounds.
If you are interested in joining the Zhang lab, Please email Chaolin ( cz2294 [at] columbia [dot] e d u) with required materials described below.
Postdoctoral fellows
Experimental Postdoc: Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or Molecular Neuroscience. Previous experience working on RNA, and mice and/or mammalian cell culture is highly desirable. Exposure to high-throughput techniques such as next-generation sequencing is preferred but not a must.
Computational Postdoc: Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Computational or Systems Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Sciences or Physics, working in two broad categories: i) statistical machine learning and algorithm development; ii) computational genomics and large-scale biological data analysis.
Applicants should provide i) a cover letter briefly describing potential projects you are interested in and your previous experience; ii) a curriculum vitae; and iii) contacts of three references.
Graduate students
We are looking for graduate students to rotate or join the lab. Applicants must have been enrolled in the Ph.D. or Ph.D./M.D. program at Columbia University Medical Center, and are interested in RNA Systems Biology. Candidates from either the experimental or the computational side are welcome.
Technician
We are looking for a technician with a track record in Molecular Biology and Biochemical work. Previous experience working on RNA, and mice and/or mammalian cell culture is highly preferred.
